What is Pride of Color?

Pride of Color is a movement to coordinate and promote events and organizations that serve the LGBTQ PoC community. It is the last 2 weeks of July, from Friday July 14th to Sunday July 30th..

By focusing on showcasing these activities in the last two weeks of July, we create solidarity with the different organizations/organizers and give our community two weeks of events dedicated to them.

Why Do we need to celebrate LGBTQ

people of color?

Because it important for us as a community to celebrate our impact on society.

... the movement for Queer rights started with QTPOC, and this will be a time to center and celebrate that/us.
— Liz
Pride wouldn’t be pride without color.
— Torrence

We are confronted, daily, by standards of the larger LGBTQ society and of our ethnic communities without being featured or celebrated for our existence within the intersection.

While there are many celebrations, owned by the mainstream, that try to include us, we believe that by bringing solidarity among our own unique community, we can create more spaces for our whole stories to be told.
